One thing this plugin excels at is the visual feedback. It’s got visual feedback for the signal you are adjusting, but it’s got great feedback for the more ‘meta’ elements you will be adjusting as well. One thing just about all Boz plugins do better than everyone else is encapsulating all that important information in a way you can understand, and more importantly in a way you can read at the same time without getting confused or overloaded. This plugin does this again better than most. No small feat.
One can use this tool as a ‘tool’ or one can use this ‘tool’ as a ‘toy’. It can be surgical if that is what is required or it can be more wide-ranging, shall we say, when you just want to muck about and get something a bit more ‘creative’ out of the mix. It pays dividends on both fronts.
Make no mistake, this is a serious tool for anyone that takes the time to learn it. With that unique mix of features that only the wild mind of Boz can bring to bear in such an easy to use format. More than easy to use – fun!
I have Gatey Watey as well. That’s a gate. It’s a great gate! In all honesty, whilst that might be simpler in design, I still find it a bit harder to dial in than Big Beautiful Door. That feedback counts for a lot. No, you shouldn’t be looking at that interface when you are EQ’ing things – naughty naughty – don’t do that again! And you probably don’t need to look at an interface when you are dialing in reverb. But for the kind of intricate tasks this tool might be used for, that visual feedback, so exquisitely presented, goes a long way to getting you 90 percent of the way to finishing your task pretty quick. The rest you need to finesse for yourself, if you really have to…
Another sublime tool/toy. Really a lot of fun. Really a joy to use.
But don’t mistake kindness for weakness.
This is a big heavy hitter of a tool when no other tool can be found to do the job at hand. When all the other Gates are hiding under their beds, shaking in their boots, BBD got you fam! It doesn’t need to come out all guns blazing, more a slow steady stride.
If I may be so bold, perhaps one of Boz’s finest masterpieces. And that’s saying a lot.
That’s what I think any way.
I’ve always hated how gating a snare drum would result in a big blast of hi-hat treble when the gate would open. With separation eq’s for open and closed positions, this is the perfect solution to allow higher frequencies through at all times to avoid that magical appearing hi-hat
Far beyond gating, this is an incredible tool.
It gives so much scope for dealing with sounds above and below threshold levels. Anything from cleaning up multi mic drum takes to mad creativity with whatever you throw at it. It can be seen as a creative filter or a gate, entirely your choice.
As with all Boz stuff, you can use many instances without sonic degradation.

I really like the potential of Big Beautiful Door. I’ve used it now a handful of times during the mix process to get a better handle on the level balance of cymbals in a busy rock track. I can only imagine the countless ways I will be using this plugin in the future. Great job BOZ!!!
Boz Digital brings the heat! I started with the Wall, picked up Transgressor (just when I thought I didn’t need another transient designer), and now Big Beautiful Door. I haven’t used it a ton, but I love the possibilities!

Big Beautiful Door is a intelligent evolution of an long forgotten tool in the studio. This evolution place so much power in a problem solving tool that makes it a creative tool too. Impressive…. I only wish that it can do some ducking to make it perfect within its simplicity.
This is a fantastic plugin, very flexible and powerful. Unlike transgressor, Big Beautiful Door responds purely to volume, and allows you to EQ loud volumes differently to quiet volumes in a very intutive way. It has replaced all other gates for me, and highly recommend for others to demo!
A very unique tool that opens up a endless world of possibilities, some more obvious than others. It will provide you what no other tool can. A must have for me, and the price is more than reasonable.
