Goodbye Mono Bass – Hello Mongoose

Thanks to our Mono Bass renaming contest winner Rob K, we are officially putting Mono Bass to rest. To take its place, we now have Mongoose.

We got a lot of great feedback from people on Mono Bass, so we decided to implement some of those features and put them in Mongoose. If you liked Mono Bass and don’t want to get rid of it, there is no need to worry. Mongoose has all the same features as Mono Bass, we just decided to add a few more.

New Features:

• Crossover Steepness Control: Lets you switch between a 6dB/octave and 12dB/octave crossover filter for better separation of the high and low bands.
• Low Width: Instead of always collapsing everything in the low band to mono, we decided to let you control how wide you want your low end. For the lower band, the default setting is mono, so if you don’t touch this control, it will be the same as it was in Mono Bass, but if you decide that a completely mono low end is too extreme, you can just add some width back into it.

• Bypass and Mix: There’s no real reason not to include these controls on every plugin. They are convenient for quickly A/B testing the effect that the plugin is having on your sound.
• Higher Crossover Value Range: You can now set the crossover frequency as high as 16kHz. Why would you ever want it that high? I have no idea, but the option is now there in case you need it.
• More Compact Interface: We decided to stick with the flat cartoon interface, but we also compacted it more so that it doesn’t take up too much real estate on your screen.

Any current owners of Mono Bass can upgrade to Mongoose for free. Just log into your user account and you should be able to see Mongoose available in your downloads page.
